Alec Bradley Maxx Culture Review

Alec Bradley Maxx Culture Review

10/8/2022

Bought a box of these about 4 months ago. Ive recently been becoming a big fan of Alec Bradley cigars. Most of the AB cigars that I've smoked have been top notch, except for only a few. The Prensado and Tempus are the best, but also at the top of the priceline. The Maxx is still a $7 smoke, but middle of the line for AB. This one supposedly has a Nicaraguan habano wrapper, Costa Rican binder and a 4 country filler of Columbia, Honduras, Mexico, and Nicaragua tobaccos.

After lighting, right away taste some spiciness and some dark chocolate flavors. Good draw, burning nice with no runs. Been drinking tequila chased with coke earlier. I'd say this one pairs better with a strong bourbon, but the tequila might bring out more spice. Got an inch ash and, so far, very smooth barely medium profile. No bite or harshness at all.

Picking up a little more spiciness. After 20 minutes, dropped its ash, barely a cone sticking out. Seems this one's flavor is mainly wrapper and binder, which, so far, has been consistently spice, chocolate, and cedar flavors. Not bad, but not getting all excited about. Don't get wrong, this is a fine cigar doing everything right. Let me drink another shot of Cazadores Reposado tequila with some coke. I think the sweetness of the cigar is coming out now. Very smooth and all medium. I guess I'm a medium cigar fan who likes them to kick it up a notch at the end. Let's see. It's called Maxx, but to me it is all medium bodied. Read my review of the Montecristo Churchill that kicked my ass. This, so far is weak compared to that one. I think that one was laced.

30 minutes in and it is starting to kick it up a notch. Finally leaving some good aftertaste. Can taste cedar, smores flavors, with a hint of spice. Still mainly medium in flavor. Starting to feel relaxation. Still burning about perfect. I'd say this a great go to cigar. It will deliver great flavors and is never harsh or overpowering. Just a great medium satisfying smoke. I've read some reviews that this is a nicotine powerhouse, but it is not. I think you can smoke these any time of the day and have a good experience.

Overall it's a fine smoke. Last inch or so, it's still smooth with added caramel flavors. Deeper flavors now, but still so smooth. That's why I bought a box. It does everything right. Does it do more? No, but enough to keep you coming back. Got an hour in and I'm smoking it hard. I like it. It's definitely kicked in now and delivering full relaxation. Maybe not my top cigar, but glad I have a box to revisit. Finishes strong with even more full flavors. I'm super relaxed now and satisfied. About an hour and 15 minutes and it will smoke to nub. Can't go wrong with this one.

Overall: 90

Flavor 89, complexity 87, burn 92, experience 92, value 91.

    1. Did I drink too much tequila? Probably, if you compare to a lightweight. But that is what smoking fine cigars is all about: drinking just enough so that you maximize your enjoyment with a good smoke. Got to know your limits.

    1. Alec Bradley Maxx Culture cigar review - Revisit

      11/21/2022

Got a lot of these because I like them so, I'm smoking one right now.  This one starts off pretty strong with peppery earth on top of caramel.  Definitely a Nicaraguan taste and profile.  Leaves a sweet taste in your mouth.

I think I drank tequila last time.  This time, I started off with the awesome  Herradura Silver and then, because I'm cheap, switched to 2Fingers Silver, which with fresh squeezed lime ain't bad.

Can't always drink the best and the same for smoking.  The Maxx is definitely not a cheap one like 2Fingers, but you can buy this cigar for a low price if you wait and find a deal.  The Maxx ain't the best but it can hang with them and it is very satisfying.  That's what matters to me.

I'm mean, come on.  Look at the awesome burn.  I think it has 5 months age.  Probably will keep getting better.  Only got about a box and half more to find out.

I'm 45 minutes in and have been puffing it pretty hard.  Where's all the internet professionals saying it's wrong to smoke a cigar too fast? I'll let them stick to their fake reviews on YouTube with their fresh rolled free cigars tasting every flavor the first 5 minutes.

If you like a medium - full smoke that consistently delivers great flavors, then you'll like this one.  It doesn't transition much, just smooth smoking.  Puffing hard will give you strong aftertaste on your palate, but a good aftertaste.  A little molasses and charred oak with a smores like taste.  Just a tad spice.  I like this one because you can make it stronger by smoking it hard.  Isn't that a good thing?

An hout in and still a lot left.  The cheap tequila is kicking in as the body of the cigar kicks in.  Now my Tidal Phish collection is playing a slow Harry Hood.  Needs to kick in the guitar jam.  An inspiration jam, nice.

The cigar is upping it's strength and flavor.  Maybe I'll slow down.  Phish Reba is now starting to jam.  Who doesn't like guitar piano bass drum jam off?

Same great flavors but kicking up a notch.  The smooth bass with the jazzy guitar really relaxes you.  A great fire burning along with a great cigar.  Great flavors all around.  Always smooth.

Full bodied and flavored the last inch.  It's a 90+ for sure.
