Kristoff Corojo Limitada Torpedo Review
Kristoff Corojo Limitada Torpedo Review
10/1/2022
This is first Kristoff I've smoke in like 15 years. I still remember the Maduros I bought like 20 years ago that I really like when I was a rookie smoker. I guess those were mild cigars, but very flavorful. This one is a Corojo, which has not been my favorite. I've had some really bad Corojo cigars in the past, but it seems the latest Corojo wrappers are much better.
It's a Saturday night for me and I'm hoping for a strong showing of some good bold flavors out of this one. I usually don't comment on the pre-light aroma as I like the smell of every cigar, but this one almost has a infused smell to it, like the Acid brands (which I'm not too fond of). I only bought one, from a sampler, but these can be found for around $8.
Right off it is smoking with a good draw, already tasting cedar and toasted marshmallow flavors. Very smooth, can puff it strong and taste caramel flavors. Pretty mild, very smooth, but has some great hidden flavors that I hope come out later.
Building flavors, burning alright, a little uneven, but doesn't need touched up. Seems the foot is really soft which probably helps with the easy smooth draw. Unfortunately I, like a fool, press on the cigar above the band and crack the wrapper. Doesn't seem to affect it though. Still burning good, actually perfect now, evened out the ash.
Got a nice 1.5 inch ash. Starting to develop some strong pepper flavors on top of the caramel flavors. This cigar probably goes better with a nice bourbon, but I've been shooting shots of Cazadores Reposado tequila. Maybe this brings out the sweetness. All I know this cigar is really sweet, smooth burning, with patches of strong spice Ness and then patches of strong cedar and toasted marshmallow flavors. Smoke is building and draw is perfect. Not a lot of body. It is Saturday night. I hope it builds in strength to add a double punch of fine tequila and Nicaraguan tobaccos. I didn't mention, I read this one is 85 percent Nicaraguan tobaccos and 15 percent Dominican. Sounds about perfect for my pallet. That's why I bought it. I used to be a fan of Dominican tobaccos but now prefer the stronger flavors of the Nicaraguan flavors. This one seems just like described, strong Nicaraguan flavors with a hint of smooth creamy Dominican flavors.
Really smoking great. I think I'm past the crack in the wrapper I self caused. Starting to feel it now. This is a fine $10 cigar and worth every bit. Don't be afraid to try one on a special occasion. I'd say it's med-full flavor that builds to full bodied, but not overpowering, just about right for me. It may make some smokers put her down to be able to finish, but you won't want to. It leaves great aftertaste and makes you realize why you smoke cigars. Not overbearing at all, just great complex flavors lingering throughout. I don't want it to end. I've got a good 50 minutes in and it is building every puff to more and more great desert like flavors. And it is kicking in its intensity. Worth the money and some. I've got a new respect for the Corojo wrapper. It doesn't overpower the deep smoothness of the blend, but still delivers a creamy sweet flavor profile. You could say it is medium flavored, but it is now full bodied with very satisfying flavors of deep roasted caramel and molasses. No harshness at all.
No, it's not tickling my nose with strong flavors, but it keeps your pallet full of great sweet flavors. And you will feel it's power. I can see why this one will rate high. Pulls huge amounts of creamy sweet smoke that is cool and flavorful, while delivering full bodied smoking pleasure. Not an everyday smoke. Save this for after a big steak dinner. Trust me. It will keep you engaged for over an hour and leave a great taste on your pallet the whole time. Loose draw that builds each puff and never overpowers. Well worth the price and I will be looking to buy more. It's like a hour plus piece of candy that leaves you relaxed and satisfied. Never a harsh note while delivering great flavor and a buzz that is hard to replicate.
Yeah I like this one a lot. Got an hour and a half out this great smoke and glad it's the end of the night, as this one is kicking in full throttle. Gonna smoke it to the nub. Still such great smooth sweetness. The burn has been perfect. A great cigar that all experienced smokers should try. I will definitely will try more, even at $10+.
