Oliva Serie G Churchill Review
Oliva Serie G Churchill Cigar Review
10/26/2022
Let me say that I have been and continue to be a huge Oliva and Cameroon fan. Everyone knows Oliva tobacco and branded cigars are always making high ratings. They have been behind many of the top rated cigars. The Serie G is priced very reasonable, can be had for about $5 to $7 a stick, and sometimes cheaper if you shop around.
I've been smoking these for years and I'm on my 3rd box of different sizes. Let's light it up on this Wednesday night.
Right away I can taste that signature cedar sweetness of the Cameroon wrapper. This is a medium smoke that starts off pretty mild but flavorful. This Churchill, to me, is longer and skinnier than most. A spongy feel, but not loose like a Fuente. This one will burn longer and I think the box press gives a little slower burn.
It's a little cold out tonight, dropping below 50 now. Good thing I already made my fire Monday when it was too warm to light it up. And it rained yesterday, so my fireplace outside keeps it dry. Burning great the fire and my cigar.
Starting to add cedar and toasted fruit notes. A little spice and cedar aftertaste. Smooth with some creaminess. Pretty mild so far.
It is Wednesday so of course whiskey Wednesday is tradition. It might be cheap, but don't mistake the complex flavors in Evan Williams charcoal filtered. Chased with coke while smoking Cameroon wrapped and Nicaraguan binder and filled tobacco, you'll get some good flavors.
Starting to pick up some caramel and sweeter flavors. Feels your palate with these flavors while leaving a mild cedar taste. I'd say it is barely medium. Compared to a La Aurora Cameroon, which is all mild, this is similar, but a lot more caramel and leather, leaving a lot more good flavors in your mouth. If you like those, move up to one of these for a tad more money and better overall flavor and much more taste.
Not the most complex smoke, but delivers all good flavors. This is one of my go to smokes. Very consistent, always burns great, never harsh, and keeps you interested.
Getting a little stronger. Picking up some pepper like spice along with oak and toasted fruit.
A little windy tonight, so smoking quicker than normal. Got 40 minutes in so far. Got 2/3 done.
Y'all northerners can make fun of my cold 48 degree weather with my big fire. But, I have on open toe slippers and a light jacket and I'm good.
Now I'm getting a lot more spice and leather. Maybe some toasted nuts. Kind of a smores taste, minus the chocolate. Aftertaste is still good, leaving cedar and spice on the tip of my tongue. Goes great with bourbon. Brings out the toasted fruit, reminds me of some of the dried Chinese fruit teas I've had.
Still medium, but biting your tongue with spice and cedar. You could smoke this any time of the day, but great for a late night Wednesday night smoke.
My mouth is totally filled with spicy cedar and dried fruits. Not overly sweet, not dry, never hot, just smooth and flavorful. Burn has been perfect. Very refined.
Got about an hour on this windy fall evening. Hot Tuna Water Song live now playing loud, a great crescendo to this smoke. You can see why this my third box and I'll be buying more.
Overall: 91
Flavor 90, complexity 91, burn 92, experience 90, value 90.
