Gurkha Master Select Perfecto Review
Gurkha Master Select Perfecto Cigar Review
11/4/2022
Its Friday night, long week, had my steak dinner, usda prime New York strip. Drank enough George Dickel to kill a lightweight. It's time to smoke a special cigar. I've got many cigars, some almost 20 years old. I'm looking deep into my humidors and the first cigar that catches my eye is the perfectly rolled Perfecto.
I don't know much about Gurkha. I read good and bad. I've only smoked a few and have had good and bad experiences. I researched this one and it originated in 2001 and supposedly is made by Oliva. Says it has equadorian wrapper and Honduran binder with Dominican and Nicaraguan fillers. Says medium. With 10+ years aging in my humidor, it should be smooth.
It takes a skilled roller to roll one like this, so it would be a shame to age it all this time and it be a dud.
It's burning good on this 62 degree night, no wind. Pretty smooth. Taste the paper like taste, with a slight bite, of the Dominican tobaccos along with some cedar. Pretty mild. Let's hope it develops into something more than a cheap mild Dominican smoke.
I've started a tiny little fire. I kind of think this cigar might not be interesting, so at least I've got a fire to look at.
Yeah, I took a picture of it burning. That's the highlight so far. Pretty much is a bad cigar.
To be honest, I'm not gonna write much on this one. It's like a mild cheapo. After 30 minutes it has not delivered anything but harsh, mild, burnt flavors. OK, I taste a hint of cedar on my palate. But, the aftertaste is terrible. No use describing. Burnt hay, toasted paper...
Overall: 0 Not worth a review. I usually try to get the most out of it, but seems not meant to be a real cigar. Maybe I got scammed or this was a known failure that they swept under the rug, but I've had better $1 cigars. Now smoking an old torn Joya de Nicaragua Antano which already tastes better. I apologize to myself and my audience.
