Oliva Serie V Diadema cigar review

Oliva Serie V Diadema cigar review

12/17/2022

I've had this one sitting in my humidor for over a year just waiting for me to smoke it.  This one is 7 inches long and has a beautiful Habana sun grown wrapper.  The cigar smells great.  I got this one from a sampler, which I have 2 of, so I can try it again.  It seems the Diadema has a 7 inch and a 6 inch.  This is the larger one.

I guess I should mention it is cold here in Georgia tonight. About 34 now.  I chopped a bunch of wood this afternoon just to make sure my fire was super hot.  No wind though, so won't be that bad.

I like a figuardo as it is easy to light.  Right away I'm enjoying some caramel and woodsy flavors.  As my jaw chatters and my arms shake.  Damn it's cold.  Thank God for my torch to get the fire roaring.

With the torch, only need 5 minutes and I'm feeling some heat.

Cigar tasting great.  Only 7 minutes in and I'm tasting some spice, a little cedar, and some toasted caramel flavors.  Not subtle, just great taste. I did touch it up at first, but burning perfect now.

First ash fell, barely a cone.  I think it is definitely aged right.  I like a slight cone on the first ash, meaning it is burning more wrapper / binder, as the roller intended.

Strengthening the toasted caramel flavors.  Like a toasted marshmallow and Graham cracker now.  No chocolate flavor.  This ain't the Maduro.  Strong earthy and woodsy flavor.  I like it a lot.

It kind of burning fast. Probably because I'm hanging close to a hot fire and smoking it hard.   And it's burning  a little uneven, with a red hot hole in it that I smother out.  Let me touch it a third time.  It's a damn canoe that is burning fast.  Still smoking good, but loosing lots of good smoking.

It's damn good tasting.  But damn, for such a high dollar cigar, it sure needs a lot of tender care and it's smoking really fast.  I'm looking at maybe a 50 minute cigar.  Now, I didn't pay the $20 or so I've seen these priced.  I got these almost free, so, to me, it a hell of a great smoke.

I got 30 minutes of great smoking pleasure so far.  My fire is really hot and enjoying every minute.

It's really smooth and full of flavors.  My palate is full of toasted caramel and woodsy flavors.  Hasn't transitioned much, just a little more intense same flavors.  Not complaining.  It's a great, satisfying smoke.  Medium bodied throughout.  Would like it to strengthen to full bodied, then it would be awesome.

I am feeling it some now.  Still medium.  I'm probably smoking it too fast.  Did I mention it's cold as shit out here? But my fire is blazing.

Still super smooth and flavorful.  More toasted marshmallow and wood flavors.  I can't help but smoke it fast.  It's really good.

Finishing the last inch.  More and more good flavors.  Never hot.  Just a great smoke.

I'd like it to last longer, but it has been so full of great smoking pleasure.  I have to rate it high.

50 minutes in and it's still giving all its got.  I'm smoking to the nub.  It's a great smoke.  It's perfectly rolled, smoking awesome till it burns me.

Overall: 92

Flavor 94, complexity 91, burn 91, experience 94, value 90.
