Esteban Carreras Chupacabra Hellcat Robusto Grand cigar review

Esteban Carreras Chupacabra Hellcat Robusto Grand cigar review

1/27/2023

This will be the 4rth of these I've smoked out of my box and I just now realized I haven't done a review on this one.  I did a review on its bigger brother Toro Grand on 9/24/22.  It became my favorite cigar and it still has my highest score of 96. Reading some of my old review, the Toro was boxed March 2020.  This one was packed March 2022, so maybe not as refined, but plenty of time to mellow out.

First few puffs, taste lots of cedar and creaminess.  Full of smoke.  It's pretty medium.

It's box pressed, which I guess I'm impartial to.  I think was makes these great is the Mexican San Andres wrapper and Nicaraguan binder and fillers.  This combination just goes so well together.  Other smokes that have this combination are some of my favorites as well, like the AJ Fernandez Rosa De Guadalupe line.

I've burned an inch and about 15 minutes of it.  Developed a sweetness with more strong cedar and spice.  It's like a spicy smore graham cracker and marshmallow taste.  Maybe some chocolate taste in there if I stop and analyze it.

All I know is this cigar has such an easy draw that is ver smooth and flavorful.

Let me say, the burn is not perfect.  I have been having to touch it up a bit, but haven't lost any cigar doing so.  It will score a little lower and it is burning a little faster  than I wanted.  My humidor might need some moisture refreshing.  But, it hasn't taken away from the smoothness.

25 minutes in and I'm half done.  A little too quick for me, but this is a Robusto.

Picking up more flavors now.  Taste more toasted wood on top of the smores flavor.  If you like cedar flavors, then you should try one of these.  Your palate is left with fruity flavors, sweet marshmallow, and cedar.  And it smokes so easy delivering clouds of smoke.  That's why I like these so much.  So easy and mellow smoking, but full of flavor.

Still medium, but definitely stronger and deeper flavors than before.  Not super complex, but complex in its different flavors throughout.

Inch and a half left.  Getting stronger for sure.  Still smooth and creamy but has a layer of earth and toasted wood on top.  Never harsh to make it seem complex, just deeper flavors to linger on your palate.  This is all very well aged and refined blends to make it always taste great.  I'm definitely feeling it now.  It's like I'm sipping it.  So smooth  and strong.

If you can find these, just buy it and be happy that cigars are so good right now.  Trust me.  You don't need to spend a ton.  These are not cheap, but some of the best I've smoked.

I might start looking  for a third box of the Chupacabra Hellcat blend.  Might not find a better cigar anywhere close to the price that is as good as these.

50 minutes in and I'm smoking  to the nub.  Just so good.  Damn, I'm so relaxed.  So satisfied that I might just sit here by the fire even after finishing it.

Overall: 94

Flavor 95, complexity 93, burn 92, experience 95, value 95.
