Gran Habano #3 Habano Rothschild Cigar review

Gran Habano #3 Habano Rothschild Cigar review

1/25/2023

Great looking wrapper on this one.  It's the perfect amount of oily and shiny in this Nicaraguan wrapper.  Filled with Costa Rican, Nicaraguan, and Mexican fillers.  Gran Habano's are made in Honduras.

It's a shorty, 4 and a half inches and a decent thickness.  Priced about 5 bucks.

Well, it's a real shitty night for smoking.  44 degrees and 12mph wind with some 20+mph gusts.  Yeah, I choose the shortest cigar I have to smoke on the windiest night.  Fire doesn't even need help to get going.  The wind ignites it in every direction.  Maybe I'll get a pause in the wind.

Well, I wait a while to lite it up.  Wind swirling but not too strong now.  This cigar starts yo kind of medium to full, with a strong spice and cedar flavor.

I just bought a box of the #5 Churchill's, as I love that blend, and the #5 is said to be the strongest.  But, first few puffs, this one is stronger.  Usually the Habano lines are the strongest...let's smoke and see.

Maybe the strength is less, but the spiciness and cedar flavor is much stronger.  I guess I like the #5 better so far, but I've only smoke 10 min.

It is smoking a little fast, but about average, especially for a 4 and a half in her on a windy night.

This one does seemed rolled a little looser than the #5's.  I think that is why it delivers more robust flavors.  Not complaining, just pointing out the profile of this one.  Still strong spicy and cedar flavors.

I am tasting a pick up of sweet caramel and oak nuttiness now.  It's pretty good.  Trying to hold it between my legs to keep the wind from smoking my cigar for me.  Wind has calmed some.

If you like em spicy, this a good one.  I was drinking some Rye whiskey, but I bet a good rum would go well with this one.  I admit I know nothing about rum.  Please someone suggest a bottle, please.

If I can get 40 minutes out this one, it will be a fine smoke.  25 minutes in and it has smoothed out and has gotten sweeter and more refined.

Full flavored, but not too strong.

I'll admit I prefer bigger, longer smoking cigars, but this one does a lot for its size.  30 min and I'm thoroughly enjoying it.

Kind of the opposite of most smokes.  This one starts strong, mellow out, and is really smooth now.  I guess it's a great short smoke.  My palate has been full of flavor the whole time.

Got to smoke to the nub to get all of what it has.  No complaints.

Last inch is still smooth, but bringing in more full flavors.  Taste a lot more oak and nuttiness.

Finishes great with a full palate of all the flavors described.  Just wishing for more.  Look forward to smoking a bigger one.

Overall: 91

Flavor 92, complexity 92, burn 93, experience 91, value 91.
