Gran Habano #5 Corojo Rothschild cigar review

Gran Habano #5 Corojo Rothschild cigar review

1/6/2023

This one is a full bodied Honduran made cigar with a Nicaraguan Corojo wrapper with fillers from Nicaragua, Mexico, and Costa Rica. It's a father and son creation of Guillermo and George Rico.

To me, it's a small smoke. Maybe can call it a Robusto. Right away it has a smooth creamy flavor, with cedar, oak and caramel sweetness. I'd say it is medium bodied and flavored. Not mild, but strong clean flavors of cedar, Christmas spice, and caramel.  Definitely refined and we'll blended.  Smoking pretty slow at first with easy draws of smoke.  Not the cloudiest of smoke, but good draw and plenty of flavor.

Building more oak and wood flavors.  Leaves a good sweet flavor on your palate.  Very smooth for a medium to full smoke.

Supposed to be cheap smoke, but  it's about  $5 a smoke most places.  It's definitely not a cheap smoke. It is smooth and well blended.  Not too complex, but definitely worth the 5 bucks.

It's a short smoke, but delivers what it's supposed to.  Would like to try a larger version.  If same profile and flavor, I might consider a box.  Yeah, it doesn't develop much, but it delivers great smooth flavors and is trying to go full bodied.  I think a larger cigar would fully satisfy me.

No complaints.  After 35 min, down to the last inch and it has built up its flavors into a stronger profile.  Much more flavors on my palate.  Stronger oak and toasted caramel flavors with some cedar and some spice now.  I think it is great.  Nothing cheap about this one.  Just good robust flavors all the way.

Looking back, all the Gran Habano cigars have been great.  Might have to expand my experience with this brand and you should too.  This short smoke definitely will compete with much higher priced cigars.  Not really full bodied, but close.  I smoke mine quick, so I like this profile.  My palate is totally filled with good flavors.  And I'm feeling some relaxation.  I definitely want to smoke another one.

Yes, I'm gonna smoke to the nub, as a fine cigar should be smoked.  Can really taste the oak and cedar along with sweet aftertastes.  It is falling apart in my mouth, but still great overall taste. No complaints.  It's a great smoke that I'm gonna try to smoke again.

Overall: 92

Flavor 92, complexity 90, burn 94, experience 92, value 93.
