Esteban Carreras Mr Brownstone Speedball Robusto Cigar review

Esteban Carreras Mr Brownstone Speedball Robusto Cigar review

6/3/2023

Sounds like a strong addicting cigar.  I'm a huge Esteban Carreras fan and this one has a equadorian Habano binder, Nicaraguan fillers from Condega and Jalapa, and a Connecticut broadleaf Maduro wrapper.

It's pretty mild at first, but has some good flavors.  Very smooth and lots of smoke.  I taste  dark caramel and slight spices.  Not strong like molasses but I hope it strengthens to it.

Let me say that I hate spices rum, as Captain Morgan just tastes like chemical shit to me.  But, this one kind tastes like what I think a good spiced rum might taste like.  I have been drinking some decent runs lately, like Appleton Estates and Carupano.  Next time I will pair this cigar with some rum.  I'm drinking Cazadores tequila which doesn't really pair with this one.

The tequila is trying to bring out some fruity flavors.  But mainly I taste brown sugar and spice.

I read about chocolate flavors with this being a Maduro, but I'm just not tasting it.  I'm always skeptical of these high profile reviews.  You really need to just smoke cigars yourself and see if they are any good.  Most reviews I read today are full of shit.

I will say this one is good, but it's the mildest Esteban Carreras smoke I've had so far, which is a steer in the opposite direction from what I have loved about their cigars.  The Hellcats are strong, smooth, flavorful, and easy smoking.  This one is similar but missing the strong.

I'm half through, about 30 min.  It does smoke really easy and smokes long and slow.  Definitely worth the $6 I paid for the 5 pack.

It is picking up some strength and stronger flavors now.  OK now I taste some molasses  and dried fruit flavors.  Still don't taste any chocolate.  It's actually very good.

Reminds me of some of the pomegranate teas I bought in China.  Fruity  and dark.

Now leaving a strong but great aftertaste of dried fruit.  Still sweet but not too sweet.  Still has some spiciness and deep earthy tastes.  I really like it.  I think if it was stronger or if it finishes stronger then this one is a winner.

OH yeah, the burn and construction is perfect, as all of the brand's cigars have been.

I've only had this cigar aging for a few weeks.  I actually think it can be better with more age.  Yeah, this is a great blend that deserves attention to detail.

I am feeling it now.  That's what I love about this brand.  It delivers a full relaxation and no nicotine overload like some.  You just need to try one to understand.

I'd say it is full flavored at the final third.  Yep, its complex.  No drastic changes, just gets stronger with a lot more flavors.  Still smooth but leaves your palate overloaded with dried fruit, spice, and molasses.  To me, this what a good rum should taste like.

The last inch is just pure flavor.  Not hot or harsh at all.  Just more of the above flavors.

The first half was a little mild, but the second half is kick ass.  What a great Saturday night smoke. I got an hour in and it is overloading with good flavors.  Awesome smoking experience for a robusto.

Yeah, I an gonna jam it out with My Morning Jacket Dondante.  What a jam.  Perfect finish to a perfect cigar.

Overall: 94

Flavor 94, complexity 94,  burn 92, experience 94, value 93.
