Kristoff Maduro Robusto cigar review

 12/2/2023

I'm starting to become a big Kristoff fan.  Every cigar I've smoked from them has been excellent.  They have many flavors and each one is different but always a great flavor and very satisfying.  This is my first Maduro from them.

First few puffs are very smooth, almost like a graham cracker dusted with cocoa powder but pretty mild.

Got to take some points off for a super quick run that I touch up twice with my spit.  Let's see if it continues.  I've had 'em run and then correct themselves.  I've yet had to burn off one side to keep it straight.

Got an inch of ash and it is still pretty mild.  Starting to pick up some white pepper.

Who's watching football?  Yeah, I'm outside trying to type this during the halftime of the FSU game.  I thought I choose this cigar because I thought a Robusto would be quick, but I think this one is going to burn much slower than most.  I definitely prefer a slow burner.

Ash dropped about third into it.  Picking more pepper.  Seems some good flavors are hidden in there but I can't really find it so far.

Maybe picking up some more dried cocoa flavors.

This one is supposed to have a Brazilian wrapper with Dominican and Nicaragua tobaccos for binder and filler.

It is starting to strengthen.  Maybe it is picking up some of those flavors lingering on the tail ends.  I guess I taste more graham cracker and more cedar and tobacco.  It's definitely a good cigar.  Could be stronger for my tastes but it is building flavors that are strong on my palate.

I was drinking some charred oak tasting mezcal. Now I'm drinking a Blue Moon wheat beer.  Everything is marrying together.  Pretty good flavors.

I think I could but more of these.  At $170 a box of 20, I don't know.  I think I need a little more complexity and more body to get it more satisfying. Check Atlanticcigars.com and you can pick these up for $4.50 a smoke.  A hell of deal.

It's a great mid afternoon smoke, but for a late night smoke you may want to choose a stronger one.

Great flavors throughout.  Really like the smoothness of the smoke and the aftertaste left on your palate. Definitely a top notch blend of aged tobaccos.  Always cool clouds of smoke.

Last inch is intense with dark chocolate on your tongue.

I definitely want to try another one, maybe a fatter and stronger one.  As I said, I've really enjoyed every Kristoff smoke I've had.  And that goes back like 20 years.  That's something to be said.  Who else has ever smoked every cigar I've tried to be great?  Yeah this one is great even if it not my favorite.  I'm gonna smoke more.

Overall: 91

Flavor 91, complexity 90, burn 89, experience 92, value 91.
