Montecristo Platinum Series Belicoso Review

This one has been in the humidor for over a year. Previous ones have been top notch and really enjoyable even when smoked right after buying.

First light was pretty mild but after a few minutes it gave a strong cedar taste. Still mild to medium but a strong cedar aftertaste.


After an inch, needed a slight touch up with the lighter, but only minor. Starting to be less cedar aggressive and move smooth leathery taste.

Turning more earthy flavors, not full bodied, still medium in body but good flavors.  Still smooth and mellow.  Ash still hanging on an inch and a half.  Ash fell, not a perfect cone, touched it up a second time with my torch lighter.  


Getting close to halfway point, still smooth, showing more body, tickling my nose, flavors transitioning from Dominican flavors to more Nicaraguan, if you know what I mean, which I like both, but like the stronger Nicaraguan flavors.  Maybe can taste some of the Mexican flavors. Don't really know Peruvian flavors, but maybe can taste it in there somewhere. 


Peeling the first band off.  Definitely a top notch cigar, very satisfying, full of flavor and no bite, no hotness at all.  Can start to feel it's power, but about right for me on a Friday night, with my 4 Rose bourbon shots. Probably don't want smoke this on an empty stomach mid day.

3rd small touch up, lost it's cone, full of smooth smoke and good flavors. Removed the main band, got 45 min of good smoking so far. Remembering why I like a Belicoso, never a bit of harshness. Still smooth with great aftertaste. Don't need to mash it to cool it, just good smoking. Not a lot transition, just more flavors coming out. 



Got a good hour now, just adding more smoking pleasure.

Getting a little hot, but I like smoke to the nub, which is what this one deserves. Still tastes great and feeling it more, but not overpowering, just added flavor.  

Definitely a great late night smoke. 

Smoked until it was burning my fingers, never lost it's ash and still good flavor. What more can you ask for? Will definitely look forward to smoking again. All around satisfaction.

Gurkha Symphony Toro cigar review 1/30/2023 Ive only smoked a few Gurkha's and none have impressed me to go out of my way to actually research how to buy them.    I always get a few in some sampler or freebie deal.    And I always find they are mediocre but priced like some kind of top notch smoke.    If they are really supposed to be priced so high, you have to ask, why are they giving these away? Anyway, this one is supposedly a mild Nicaraguan filler, Dominican binder, and Connecticut wrapper.  Smoke is pretty mild so far.    Pretty good taste and flavors of toasted graham crackers and marshmallow with a hint of spice and cedar.    It is a tad plugged, which probably keeps the profile mild.    Feels kind of spongy, but these have a couple month of age in my humidor, so they should burn well.    And I do have to touch up. Burning a bit too much on one side.   But, so far, not bad, but hasn't really done much except for the flavors at first.  Looks good after touching up and m

Gurkha Castle Hall Nicaraguan Reserva Especial Toro cigar review  5/27/2023 I got these cheap.    But they've been aging for at least 6 months in my humidor.    Never been a fan of Gurkha, but I am very open minding and will smoke every cigar I have.  Starts off medium with spice, cedar, and earth.    Yep, just like most Nicaraguan smokes.    Not too bad.   Most Gurkhas taste alright the first third and turn to really terrible, but, like I said, I will honestly review any cigar.    If this one stays consistent then it is a decent smoke.   I taste a slight caramel taste, but it is burning kind of hot.    It is really windy tonight.    60 degrees out.    Windy and cool enough to start a small fire.    What's does have to do with how this is smoking? Nothing.    It is burning hot and a little harsh, but maybe it will mellow out. Half way through and it is mostly cedar and spice taste.    Easy smoking, not a lot of smoke, but leaves decent flavor on your palate.   I will say it is
