Oliva Serie O Torpedo Review

Oliva Serie O Torpedo Cigar Review

11/9/2022

If you haven't tried the Oliva O line, then you are living under a rock in the cigar industry.  Reviewing this is like reviewing a $500 Schwinn bicycle.  You know it's a good product.  You know it's not the best because the price is low, but for the price it is hard to beat.  They must be doing something right, right?

Well, I'm a fan.  It ain't cheap, but compared to some of the $200+ a box brands, this line is consistently a great buy.  Shop around and these can be had for $5 or a little more.

It's all Nicaraguan and mostly medium all around in flavor and body.

I don't normally comment on the pre-light spell, but damn it smells great.  This cigar has been aging for 1 to 2 years with me so it's got to be good.  Enough writing crap, light it up.

First inch is all mild, some cedar. Very smooth.  Can puff very hard and no bite or harshness.  But I do make it run.  I do have to touch it quite a bit.

I think it has settled and is burning good now.  Can now taste caramel and some walnut.  Still pretty mild.

Leaves a cedar taste on your tongue.  A third done and now starting to taste a more medium tobacco profile.  I like how it slowly transitions to a different flavor that is even better.  It is now less cedar, but more earthy. Has a earthy raw tobacco taste, but is mellow and creamy.

Wow, this thing is changing flavors every few minutes.  I taste pepper for a while then back to earthy flavors, then caramel and cream soda, then back to pepper.  All while very medium and extremely smooth.

I think everyone can like this one.  There's a reason why this one is sold everywhere.

Getting stronger.  Can taste the complex Nicaraguan tobaccos.  Now even better.  Still smooth, creamy, but many more flavors.  Leaves a nutty caramel cream flavor in your mouth that is much stronger.

Now cedar and pepper returns on top of all of these flavors.  I can go on and on about the flavors, but you get the picture.  It's all around great.  Won't knock you socks off, but very satisfying.

Last inch and I'm feeling it.

Over an hour in and I'm hoping for more.  Government Mule Cortez the Killer is jamming and totally satisfied with my wed night smoke.  Full flavored with more pepper on top.  Great finish.  I touch it up to get the wrapper burning more, adding even more flavors.  Full bodied now and so relaxing.  Cedar esplosion.  Great finish. Got to smoke to the nub.

So many transitions.

One of the most interesting cigars out there.  All around great.

Overall: 93

Flavor 92, complexity 95, burn 90, experience 93, value 94.
