Alec Bradley Family Blend The Lineage Robusto Cigar review

Alec Bradley Family Blend The Lineage Robusto Cigar review

1/16/2023

First time trying The Lineage line.  Honduran wrapper, Nicaraguan binder, and fillers from Nicaragua and Honduras.  Lately, I've seen many cigars with the pigtail cap, as this one does.  Not sure if I'm partial to it or not.  Makes it have 2 cuts to cut it.  I guess it looks fancy.

These ain't cheap, going for $8 per stick when buying a box.  I didn't pay it as I got these from a sampler.  To be honest, I pay about $4 a smoke when averaging all of my smoking, including shipping and tax.  And I smoke mainly the cigars that I review here, so I don't ever smoke cheap ones.

Starts off very smooth and mild.  Kind of nutty with a slight bite of spice.  A little caramel sweetness is starting to come through.  First inch has been pretty typical of a fine Nicaraguan, which seems is what all the top cigars are lately.  And I agree with the concensious.  If you go out today and buy a $8 Alec Bradley or AJ Fernandez Nicaraguan cigars, it will most likely be a very good smoke.  Are we smoking some the cigars ever right now? I think so, but I'll let others debate that.  I'm just glad I can really enjoy really good smokes for around $4.

Getting into the 2nd third, pretty much same flavors.  Still really smooth. I'd say medium now with a little more woodsy flavors over a toasted caramel flavor.  Still has that subtle bite of spice that lingers on your palate.  Overall, it's a great smoke that is definitely refined and blended well.

Picking up some flavors now.  Now I taste the earthiness and more spiciness.  Just a tad sweetness.  Tasting more medium to full.  Much more toasted oak flavor, kind of bites your palate, not as smooth, but still good flavor.

It's a complex blend.  Has gone from creamy and smooth to rich and robust.  I think this one can please all types of smokers, even the few that crave the full bodied blends.  You may have to smoke 2/3 to get it full bodied, but that's what smoking is all about.  Who wants to smoke an full hour of overpowering flavors or smoke an hour and never really develop into anything? This one is worth the price if you like a complex smoke.

My palate is full of oak, earth, spice, cedar, and toasted caramel.  It's pretty good and full of strong flavors now.

Am I buzzing? Not really, but I can feel it now.  If I smoke to the nub, I'm gonna bet it gets me going.  If you're looking for a knock you out cigar, keep looking, but it is a strong one.  Just have to smoke it to the end.

It's a Robusto, so 45 min is about right.  Can smoke longer if you baby it.  It has slowed a bit but the strength is still picking up.  A little more oak and earth, like a strong Nicaraguan.

It's a great representation of the spice of Honduras and the earth and oak flavors of Nicaragua.  Especially at the end.  Definitely an interesting smoke.

Not my favorite smoke, but definitely one I look forward to smoking again.

Overall: 91

Flavor 90, complexity 94, burn 93, experience 92, value 90.
