Alec Bradley Project 40 Natural Gordo Cigar review

Alec Bradley Project 40 Natural Gordo Cigar review

2/20/2023

Checking my reviews, I realized I haven't done a review on this one.  This one I liked so much that I bought two boxes of these at very cheap prices, like 5 year ago prices.  Or like half of what I'm seeing them priced at today.  $3 to $4 is what these are worth and they are some of the best at that price.

I thinks it's all Nicaraguan with Brazilian Habano binder.  Not too mild and not too full.  It's just a great go to smoke for any occasion.

It starts off slow.  Yeah it is mild for first 10 minutes.  After 10 minutes it picks up some flavors. It's still mild, but picking up some graham cracker and nuttiness.  Burning perfect and drawing quite well.

Picking up a little spice and cedar.  Still mild enough to play golf or fish and smoke it while letting it hang from your lips.

I like it as it's an uneventful smoke.  It just smokes good no matter how you smoke it.  You can set it down, pick it up 5 minutes later and it is still smoking great.  Or puff it hard and get some good flavors.

I'm smoking it pretty fast and hard.  I can taste some sweet caramel on top of the graham cracker taste.  Aftertaste is some cedary spice.

After 25 minutes, ash still hangs.

That's what I'm talking about.  It just smokes great and always gives good mild to medium flavors.  You could smoke it anytime and thoroughly enjoy it.

I saw it rated a 93.  Not sure how or who, but come on.  Who rates a very consistent mild to medium smoke a 93? It's definitely good.  That's why I bought 2 boxes - because it's cheap and I  can pull one out at anytime and enjoy it without worrying about wasting a great smoke on the golf course or fishing.

The 93 rated smokes should be relished on a Friday night with some spirits and fully enjoy it.  I'm not  saying to not smoke your best fishing, but I like to smoke all kinds of smokes and save the great ones for when I can really sit back and enjoy the complex flavors.

It is good, not great.  Don't pay $140.  There's better ones out there, even from Alec Bradley for that price.

Got 45 minutes in on this big Gordo and it is pretty good.  Stronger now.  More earthy flavors, but still good nutty and Graham cracker taste.

Save these for a midday smoke when you want to thoroughly enjoy a mild to medium one.  Doesn't transition much, just does what a good smoke should do.  Keeps you entertained and satisfied.

I'm smoking it on this Monday night and I'm satisfied. Would I like a stronger and more complex one? Yep.

Got an inch left and it is getting stronger still.  More classic Nicaraguan taste.  Gonna get a little more than an hour from it.

A loose draw at the end to keep this mild one drawing easily with medium strength flavors until the end.  Well designed.

I Luke to smoke to the nub, which you surely can.  That's why I like it.  It's just good, mild, never harsh, and smooth and flavorful from start to finish.  Like I said, it's a great $3 to $4 smoke that I'm gonna smoke any time that I want and mild one.

With that said, buy it for what it is - a great anytime mild smoke.

Overall: 89

Flavor 89, complexity 87, burn 92, experience 90, value 91.
