La Aurora 1495 Series robusto review

This blend has been around a long time. I'm reviewing what I think is a 10+ year old one from a box I bought.  They still s2ll them now for about the same or maybe less than back then, about $3 or $4 a piece. 

A toothy Ecuadorian wrapper with corojo, Dominican binder and Dominican, Peruvian, and Nicaraguan fillers.  It's a medium smoke, not meant to be a full bodied smoke. 

Starts off pretty mild with a slight bite of spice and charred wood.  It's a slightly complex flavor and not smooth and mild like the regular La Aurora Cameroon line, which are awesome mild smokes in my opinion.  To me, these have a slight bite of harshness, which might be covered up if it had more body.  But it's a mild smoke trying to add complex flavors.  Not bad so far, but not great.

The spice and cedary wood flavors have taken over.  The bite has almost disappeared.  Still mild to medium.  But I'm getting huge puffs of smoke and it's a lot better.  Yes, the 10+ years of aging is maybe what gives it it's great burn and copious amounts of smoke and mild flavors.  

Don't get all worked up or excited. 20 mins in and I'm probably half through it. Again, not bad, but not great, even for such an aged cigar.  

It does leave only good flavors on your palate.  It's trying to be complex, but nothing note worthy.  I do like it though and I think it's worth the $3 mark for sure.  

Th flavors are building.  A little more sweetness with some earthiness and cedar and hints of spice.  No bite now.  It has turned into a pretty good smoke.  

I guess you could call it complex.  Still mild  to medium.  Smokes pretty quick but is pretty satisfying.  Maybe some strength coming through.  The burn has burn perfect.  Still has clouds of smoke. 

The last inch is probably the best it's been.  It has turned from good to pretty good.  Medium and full of flavor.  50 mins of good smoking.  Maybe the $4 is a pretty good deal.  

If you can get these cheap, it's a good smoking cigar and probably better than most in this price range, but don't expect it to hang with some of the slightly higher priced smokes.
